Last night I was watching a famous TV show and they were talking about diets. They wanted to “help you” to lose weight but their hidden motivation is to sell you diet products. In other words TV host was pushing weight loss products of this company.

The guy who was selling his products was a doctor and he said calorie is calorie. It really does not matter if you eat pizza or some other healthy meal. It is the same. Just reduce calories and you will lose weight.

Same people who promoted last year diets and weight loss pills are promoting this year same old repackaged products and diets. But with a new twist.

Here are few tips for you:
- Don’t let TV show hosts tell you what to eat. They are paid to tell you lies and promote products.
- Every segment on TV show is financed by some diet product. They will tell you a story that benefits them but not you.
- TV show hosts have no clue about diets. They are paid to promote products and trick you into buying products. That’s their job.
- Don’t be surprised if you see some doctors on TV telling you stories about diets. Even doctors and celebrities are involved into diet scams. They are diet mafia. They only want your money.
- Same marketing people who told you few years ago to buy stocks and houses are now marketing diet products. They switched the field. Be careful.

The truth is:
Low calories diets are not working. On TV they are telling you lies. Calorie counting is the biggest mistake you can make while dieting.
Your metabolism will be killed and when you start eating again you will gain back all water and muscle weight you lost plus you will gain 20 additional pounds.

Only way to lose weight is to increase your metabolism. You will increase your metabolism when you add few pounds of lean muscle with exercise. Plus you will have to focus on quality of your foods not on quantity.

Every year same story over and over again.
Every time someone talks about celebrity diets is fooling you and wants to make money of you. They hope you buy magazine and find their “hidden secrets”.
There are no celebrity diets. Just people who follow a good nutrition plan and than they look like a celebrity.

Every time someone talks to you about the stars is not your friend. They just want to trick you into buying something they have no clue about. The real friend tells you that you are a STAR. And not that you could be a star if you buy some products.

I often get asked from people the same question over and over: How many pounds can I lose in a week when I get on a diet? My answer to them: You will lose 7 days.

Many people follow crazy diets because someone told them to do so. They hope they will lose weight, but the fact they will lose time and money, not the belly.

You can not get on a diet without knowing:
- How your body metabolize the food?
- How your body burn fat? The famous Yo Yo Effect.
- Why is your metabolism slow and not burning fat as it used to?

Are you counting your calories? Many people are telling you to track every single calorie you eat. Right? I never tell my clients how many calories are supposed to eat.
Calorie counting is the biggest mistake you will ever do when dieting. They want to let you believe that eating burgers and fries (700 calories) is the same as eating equal amount of chicken and veggies (700 calories).
Every time you focus on quantity and not the quality, you will make the big mistake in dieting. Forget about calories. Eat quality. That is what counts. Your body is not ATM machine to know how many calories you did put in.
Beware of a half truth, you may be getting the wrong half.

Low calories diets will let your body crash like Dow Jones and turn you into a bear. In a bear market you do not need to look like one.

We see it in TV and magazines. All best tips and diets, so I will list couple tips how to look your best based on those commercials.

1. To get a perfect body, you can eat pizza, pasta and burgers. All low glycemix foods. Why not? Eat ice cream too. You will be fine so long you count those weight watchers points. Enjoy the life. Why diet? Diets are not working anyway.
2. Why do you need to go to the gym when you can get in great shape in 2 minutes per day at home watching The Jerry Springer Show.
3. To look like a dancer, you just need to dance. Please no weights heavier than 3 lbs. God forbids you can strain your muscles and weights will make you bulky.
4. If any foods have not been endorsed by celebrity or has no photo of the star on the label, than it is not good for you! If it is not good enough for celebrities than it is not good for you too!
5.Why exercise anyway? Muscle will turn to Fat once you stop Exercising. So do not bother going to the gym.

I read daily a lot about different diet principles. Recently I am researching macrobiotic diet. I will share few principles about macrobiotic diet that I find very interesting. My friend Sachi is following a macrobiotic diet and she shared with me few principles of this diet.
Macrobiotic eating follows the principle of balance (called balancing yin and yang in China).
Macrobiotics holds that some foods are overstimulating and can exhaust the body and mind.
These are classified as extreme yin (stimulating) in their effects:
Sugar
Alcohol
Honey
Coffee
Chocolate
Refined flour products
Very hot spices
Chemicals and preservatives
Commercial milk, yogurt and soft cheeses
Poor quality vegetable oils
Foods that are considered to be concentrated, heavy and dense create stagnation.

These have yang (strengthening, but stagnating effects if over-consumed).
Poultry
Meat
Eggs
Refined salt

Foods that create balance are whole grains, vegetables, beans, sea vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds. Foods such as these are used in a macrobiotic diet.
The above implies that macrobiotics encourages the use of foodstuffs which are themselves balanced, rather than balancing the intake so that the amount of yin and of yang foods balances out.

I think that we can learn a lot from macrobiotic diet and we can start to incorporate some elements of this diet into our western lifestyle.

Most people gain weight when they get older. Why? Because when you get older your metabolism decrease due to a loss of muscle mass. But we continue to eat like we are 16 year old kids and we do not exercise as we used to.

When you get older you do not burn so many calories as before, so we suddenly gain weight and you will find out that you can not eat as much as we did a few years ago without gaining fat.

What we need to do to keep in shape while we age? Some people will tell you that you can not do so much. Just accept the fact that you are older and fat and live the rest of your life with the fear of being naked.

THE TRUTH IS: You can do a lot for your body and keep the fat off. I have many clients in 50′s who are only 5% body fat and they never looked better.

You can do following:

  1. Watching what you eat and knowing what foods are making you fat. If you do not know what to eat hire a nutritionist.
  2. Exercise and keep your muscle up. They burn fat off for you.
  3. Change Your Lifestyle. If you want to stay sexy, you have to be willing to change how you live. Make a time for your workouts, hire a high quality personal trainer to watch over you and push you even more so you can look your best. The most successful people have always realized that professional coaching can make the big difference between achieving their goals and not. Athletes are not the only ones to realize that expert help is necessary to help them attain success.

Take control and start making those decisions. Only you are responsible for your health and your body.
