NO AUTHORITY IS HIGHER THAN FITNESS REALITY

Truth isn't a matter of your personal viewpoint.
Learn to see things as they really are,
not as you imagine they are.

Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or who says it.
No matter what you believe, it never changes the facts.
If they are there, the facts always speak for themselves.

The truth does not change because it is, or is not,
believed by a majority of people.
If sixty million people say a foolish thing,
it's still a foolish thing.

Training is so much more than
just going to the gym! It's about realizing your personal strengths and
weaknesses and expanding your fitness knowledge. It's about learning the
difference between fitness folklore and facts. It's about developing your
exercise techniques and learning to eat better.

The sky is no less blue because the blind man does not see it.

What Are The Unique Benefits To Kickboxing?

Kickboxing as a workout has recently surged in popularity—and for good reason. Kickboxing is one of the most intense full body workouts available and by far the most enjoyable!
One of the first benefits of kickboxing classes is that they get you in shape. Think of how fit boxers need to be to stay on their feet, bobbing and weaving, constantly moving, while trying to punch and kick each other for ten or 12 three-minute rounds. That is no easy feat. Your body and mind need to be honed to become a kickboxer. A kickboxer learns how to control his or her breathing, footwork, balance, and power. Kickboxing is not just hitting another person in a ring. It is a skillful dance that requires more from your body than anything you have asked from it before.

In order to last 1 round in the ring—let alone 12—you need to increase your cardiovascular endurance. Because of this, you’ll learn how to skip rope—like a boxer-- which is an amazing cardiovascular workout. In addition, kickboxing will shock your body to new heights—you will be faster, stronger, and healthier because I will always go to your limit. Since Kickboxing is entirely dynamic, there are no “numbers.” I will never ask you to give me a “level 5” punch or kick. I will tell you to punch and kick as hard as you can. That way we are always pushing your body to its max and thus, always breaking down plateaus making you as strong and fit as possible.

You’ll also hit the heavy bag – which is a form of resistance training – that will build power in your arms. Hitting the double-ended bag and working with spotting mitts (which is like punching moveable targets), will develop hand speed and eye-hand co-ordination. Push-ups will strengthen your entire upper body. Kicking drills will develop leg power and improve your balance. Are you getting the picture? Kickboxing is the ultimate full body workout!

All boxers, kickboxers and other martial artists have to be able to take a blow to the midsection. Crunches and other abdominal exercises are fine and will help build and sometime strengthen your midsection but I take it to the next level. Having rock hard abs are great but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to absorb a punch like it was nothing? Having a dynamite midsection looks great but is it actually strong? As said before, Kickboxing trains your entire body. When you punch you twist your entire body, training your obliques and core. When you kick you have to tighten your entire midsection to stay balanced. To be able to kick above your head you need to have a tight, controlled core that I guarantee will be able many times stronger than before. Flexibility is also crucial for anyone studying a fighting art and we will work on flexibility exercises to increase balance and to minimize the risk of injury.

Lastly, Kickboxing gives you confidence and a number of key self-defense principles. When you learn what your body can do, how to avoid an attack, how strong you actually are, it radiates from within you. All of my students say they feel empowered and more in control. Get in the best shape of your life, learn how to defend yourself, become more confident, and train with a Martial Arts and Kickboxing Champion! What more can you ask for?

    Fitness attitude of gratitude

Develop a fitness attitude of gratitude. We discover a sense of wholeness as we appreciate both the small and big things in our lives. And it really helps to remember to appreciate ourselves. Appreciation is more than just acceptance -- it's respect and admiration. Appreciate simplest things like that you are healthy and you can go to the gym. Let go of criticism and self-abuse.
Do you really think that you will change if you start self-abusing yourself. In a past I had trainers that they used self abuse as a tool. It never worked and it never will. There are several things you can do to stop self-abusing yourself. That's why it is very important to develop an attitude of gratitude. Once you do that things will change for better.

"You can never get to peace and inner security without first acknowledging all of the good things in your life. If you're forever wanting and longing for more without first appreciating things the way they are, you'll stay in discord." -- Doc Childre and Howard Martin

    Personal Trainer FAQ

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?!

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of
    vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise
    program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!!... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad
    for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
    middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about
    food and diets.

    And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"
Paul H Bouchard (retired) (Do the best you can)

I hope this will make you smile!

    How Are You Sabotaging Yourself?

"If you play it safe in life you've decided that you don't want to grow any more." --Shirley Hufstedler

How are you sabotaging your potential for change? Are you getting the results you want from your fitness program?

We unconsciously use defence mechanisms to shield us from situations or actions we perceive to be scary or painful. We do not want try something new, a new workout program or a new nutrition program cause we are scarred to try. It might be painful or uncomfortable.

A part of you may want to grow and change, but another part may be resisting because change always moves you into new territory or a new level in your thinking and emotions.

If you find you are getting anxious, fearful, angry, frustrated, dismissive or unmotivated, then defence mechanisms are at work. Watch for them and know them to be signs of fear that wants to hold you back from getting a progress. Then courageously move through them.
Act as a champion and do not try to sabotage yourself.

    Oprah's personal trainer Bob Greene

I watched Oprah today, she talked about weight loss with her personal trainer Bob Greene. I agree with Oprah when she said that she feels fat and old when she does not work out.

Weight training has so many benefits, let me write down few:

    1. Weight training tones your muscles which looks great and raises your basal metabolism... which causes you to burn more calories 24 hours-a-day. You'll even burn more calories while you're sleeping.
    2. Weight training can *reverse* the natural decline in your metabolism which begins around age 30.
    3. Weight training energizes you.
    4. Weight training has a positive affect on almost all of your 650+ muscles.
    5. Weight training strengthens your bones reducing your risk of developing osteoporosis.
    6. Weight training improves your muscular endurance.
    7. Weight training will NOT develop big muscles on women....just toned muscles!
    8. Weight training makes you strong. Strength gives you confidence and makes daily activities easier.
    9. Weight training makes you less prone to low-back injuries.
    10. Weight training decreases your resting blood pressure.
    11. Weight training decreases your risk of developing adult onset diabetes.
    12. Weight training decreases your gastrointestinal transit time, reducing your risk for developing colon cancer.
    13. Weight training increases your blood level of HDL cholesterol (the good type).
    14. Weight training improves your posture.
    15. Weight training improves the functioning of your immune system.
    16. Weight training lowers your resting heart rate, a sign of a more efficient heart.
    17. Weight training improves your balance and coordination.
    18. Weight training elevates your mood.

No wonder Oprah feels better when she works out!

    FITNESS IS FUN

Your success in any sports depends on your enjoyment.
Loving the fitness and what you do makes the difference.
If you enjoy what you do, you'll be successful.
If you don't enjoy what you do, you won't be successful.

Your chances for success are directly proportional
to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
If you play a sport you hate, face the fact squarely and get out.
You'll never achieve real success unless you like what you are doing.
I really do not know people who lost weight and got into shape and did not enjoy lifting weights.

Success in its highest and noblest form
calls for peace of mind, enjoyment, and happiness
which comes only when you find the activity that you like best. That's why many people who achieved their fitness goals feel happiness and fulfilled.

You don't pay the price for success.
You enjoy the price for success.
Fitness is reward and fun, not punishment.

The job of a personal trainer is not just to teach you how to exercise correctly. A personal trainer is a motivator, will show you how to enjoy exercise fully, change your attitude towards fitness and show you that fitness is exciting and fun and not a torture.

Egg whites vs. whole eggs. Are Egg Yolks Bad?

Nutrient content in a whole egg is much more better than just egg whites. Many people stay away from whole eggs because they think that yolk has a some impact on blood cholesterol levels.
But they do not know the truth. Latest reports are showing that yolk does not raise cholesterol levels. There is no one single research that shows that whole eggs raise your cholesterol.
Ok there is some fat contained in yolk. Some people can not stand the egg whites omelette or egg whites taste. So what you can do is to add one or two whole eggs in your omelette to improve taste.

Love Exercising or do something else

You'll never achieve real success in fitness unless you really, really like what you're doing.
No one has ever succeeded in a line of endeavor which they did not like. Did you have a success in your ex jobs that you did not like? Most probably not!

Your chances of success are directly proportional
to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
If you're in a job you hate,
face the fact squarely and get out. The same is with the sport. If you play sport that you do not like, get out and find other sport that will bring you joy.

It's better to be a failure in something you love,
than attempting to be a success in something you don't.
Don't set compensation as a goal.
Find the activity or sport you love, and the compensation will follow.

The more you love what you are doing,
the more successful it will be for you. More you love exercising and going to the gym, more successful it will be fe you too.

Make Time For Your Fitness Goals

"What is it that makes all of us end each day with the sense that we have not
lived our time, but have been lived, used by what we do?"
    -- Jacob Needleman

How can you free up more time for yourself and make more time for exercising and organizing your meals?

All of the great masters counsel that we need time daily for solitude. And if we
want our journey in life to be meaningful, then surely we need some free time
each day to explore our inner landscapes and uncover our passions. What
activities can you cut out of your life to give you more growing room? Can you cut watching TV? Or some other activity that is not important right now?

"Why has time disappeared in our culture? How is it that after decades of
inventions and new technologies devoted to saving time and labor, the result is
that there is no time left? We are a time-poor society; we are temporally
impoverished. And there is no issue, no aspect of human life, that exceeds this
in importance. The destruction of time is literally the destruction of life."
    -- Jacob Needleman
