Fitness goals explained

People always have goals in life and they think when they achieve those goals they will be happy, and than when they achieve them, they set new goals.
A whole life they spent in this interval, from the point when you think that you were happy to the point when you think that you will be happy one day.

That's why is very important not to spend a whole life in this interval. Enjoy the journey.

Plyometrics vs. Resistance training for Weight Loss?

I see people in the gyms across USA and New York City using plyometrics exercises as their primaraly training method. Some of the latest "diet books" on the market have plyometrics exercises in it. Plyometrics were developed in Eastern Europe. The words plyo and metrics are Latin for "measurable increases."

Plyometrics exercises are primarily directed for athletes to build their explosive power and speed. However overweight people or average people with weight loss in mind are not power based atheletes. All they want is to lose fat. Plyometric training will help you if you need to improve your explosive power and speed, but if you want to lose body fat you need to start building muscle. That's why you should be focused on resistance training programs that build lean muscle.
Plyometric training is also high risk activity especially for heavy people and can cause serious injuries.

If you do not participate in speed or power based sports (ex. football, soccer) forget about plyometrics and start build lean muscle if you would like to see your fat melt away. YOUR MUSCLE IS THE ENGINE FOR YOUR METABOLISM.
William Evans, Ph.D. and Irwin H. Rosenberg, M.D. confirm this in their landmark book about controlling the aging process. If you have a reduced amount of muscle, as most middle-aged people do, your metabolic demand for oxygen and your caloric needs decline. That's because muscle tissue is active tissue requiring nourishment. Fat is passive; it just sits there as a storage form of body energy. "We feel that older people's reduced muscle mass is almost wholely responsible for the gradual reduction in their basal metabolic rate."

If you want to burn body fat, you need to start with a program that build muscle. There is nothing better than resistance training program for lean muscle gain.
Plyometrics, pilates and yoga will not do the job. Once you learn few facts and understand how your metabolism works, you will be able to start effective weight loss program with a great success.

FIFTY PERCENT OF SUCCESS IS SHOWING UP

The only way to start to improve your body is to start weight training in the gym.
Once you're sure you're on the right road there is no need to plan your journey too far ahead. Don't worry too much if you do not know too much about training and nutrition. You can only take one step at a time.

You don't need to know it all about training and nutrition in advance.
FIFTY PERCENT OF SUCCESS IS SHOWING UP. Show up in the gym and you are almost 50% there. The other 50% is to know how to train right and eat right.
