Vitamins and your health: Protect your health

I've been reviewing the latest medical literature on vitamins in last time and new research reveals how vitamins can affect our health.

New Vitamin Research Reveals:

1. Low Vitamin C levels are linked to being overweight. In a study of 118 adults those people, especially women, who had reduced levels of Vitamin C in their blood had higher body mass index, higher body fat percentage, and larger waist sizes.

2,. They also found low plasma Vitamin C in women to be associated with reduced amounts of adinonectin, an important hormone associated with diabetes and heart disease.

3. Moreover, 1/3 of Americans have reduced levels of this critically important vitamin.

4. In an associated project it was found that Vitamin C may protect against arthritic changes in your knees.

5. Low Vitamin D levels are now linked to high blood pressure. Another new study points to a link between vitamin D levels and cardiovascular health, especially high blood pressure. According to the authors, "This finding has public health significance, as vitamin D levels can easily be increased by sun exposure or vitamin D supplementation

6. A new study again highlighted the effects that broccoli reduces your risk of all cancers and especially the risk of aggressive prostate cancer.

In this new study of 30,000 people, it was discovered that a higher intake of broccoli and cauliflower had a very strong protective effect.

Men who ate broccoli and cauliflower especially had a great benefit in reducing the risk of prostate cancer. And they also found a benefit in cancer reduction from consuming spinach.

Guys, take your vitamins, eat broccoli and spinach, exercise, reduce your stress levels and you are on the good way to stay healthy.

Stress causes our system to collapse

When we're under too much stress our system may collapse.

Now sometimes this collapse is dramatic. A heart attack is an example of that. Or your stress related health problems may develop slowly over time and then, boom, the big one. A little inflammation here, a little immune dysfunction there. Or perhaps some overweight creeps up or you lose your energy and feel depressed, hyper-vigilant and not be able to sleep.

What happens as time goes on? It gets worse!

It's not hard to understand because it makes sense.

What you need to master stress is a long-term plan. An aspirin and a valium today and a Prozac and a Lipitor tomorrow are not the best answer, even though some doctors follow that type of philosophy in their mode of practice.

So what's the magic bullet, then?

Well I don't think there is a magic bullet but there is a critically important formula and you know what it is.

Eat well, take your supplements, get enough exercise, sleep and rest and relax to soothe and calm your nerves and brain.

Healthy cooking: Stop using butter!

I love watching Food Network. One of my favorite show is Barefoot Contessa. She is really cool, but she puts pound of butter in every meal! All is cooked with butter and heavy cream. She has great recipies but all can be done the healthy way without the butter.

If you want to lose weight and get in shape, forget about the butter in your cooking. Be careful when you eat out, many chefs in NYC are using butter in their cooking, but they will never tell you about that. They flavor everything with butter: veggies, steak, fish ...

Butter consists mostly of saturated fat and is a significant source of dietary cholesterol. For these reasons, butter has been generally considered to be a contributor to health problems, especially heart disease.

I really do not like to criticize people, but because I love her, I want her to live long life and thats why I say STOP USING BUTTER INA!
